The Brazilian Bomber
Mayron Zeferino
Mayron “the Brazilian Bomber” Zeferino is a professional boxer that debuted in 2016 winning his first pro fight by TKO. To date, he’s had 7 fights with 6 wins, 1 loss. Mayron’s next goal is to fight for the welter weight belt in Brazil — a belt that’s been long awaiting for the next champion— and bring it back home to Canada.
Now behind every fighter’s victories, there’s always a story.
At the young age of 12, life started to change for Mayron without a single chance to prepare; he was diagnosed with Type – 1 diabetes. As a young boy, being told to keep blood sugar levels normal, take medication everyday, eat right and exercise for the rest of your life was a lot to take in. However, that never stopped him from thinking big and following his dreams.
When he was 24, after having plenty of years learning how to cope with his first diagnosis, life threw him another curve ball; he was diagnosed with non- Hodgkin lyphoma. At this point, having to live with two severe types of sicknesses would be devastating for any one. But not Mayron. With his faith and courage, he fought like any relentless warrior would; 8 hard months of chemotherapy and 2 radiation treatments later, he became cancer free. It was at this point of his life, Mayron really felt God was on his side giving him another chance at life.
Now Mayron has committed himself to this; to encourage and to give hope to the new generation that although life has its own reason to bringing you down, there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. He’s actively looking for new ways to support his community; sharing his story and organizing charitable events is part of the first steps Mayron and his team are taking to make a difference in people’s lives, and to show continuous support throughout this journey!
